A Walk For Jayne

Yesterday I did a sponsored walk with family and friends for a dear friend that passed away a few months ago to pancreatic cancer. I was already flaring but was determined I was going to do it because it meant so much to me.

I made caps, badges and flags with ‘Team Jayne’ on them for us all to wear. It was a lovely group effort and there were a few others with varying disabilities in the group too. We took it slow with lots of stops but we got there.

The walk was over 5 miles which is the furthest I have ever walked. I used my stick, took my stool to have plenty of breaks and took painkillers. At many points I thought there was no way I was going to make it. Every step my body was screaming but I did it and I’m so proud of myself and it was so worth it. It meant so much to all of us. The atmosphere was lovely with plenty of memories shared and fun times had. I hope she was watching over us and was proud of us all.
